Interviewing a bestie who works at Dion Lee: Daniella

Daniella, how did you come across this amazing opportunity?
Well, the fashion industry is all about connections, right? I had a distant connection (friends of friends) to the CEO of Dion Lee and they asked if there were any opportunities available for me. Through that, I got in-touch with Anna (the DL CEO) and she forwarded my resume over to HR. From there they created an internship plan for me. The scope of my internship allowed me to cover all departments and understand the business completely. They then offered me a full-time position after my internship!
What has working at Dion Lee been like?
It's been great! There's so much going on and it keeps me so busy (and if you know me - I love being busy). The work environment and the team are so welcoming. It's exactly what you would think working for a young brand would be.
How have you adjusted to living in Sydney?
I've adjusted a lot quicker than expected. I really enjoy a busy city lifestyle, so it's been great to be in-between the hustle of it. I love how you never have to spend a weekend at home, there is a different event on all the time and unlimited food options!
What do you miss about Adelaide?
My family & friends of course! I love Adelaide, the fact that it is so small allows you to know every restaurant, every hidden spot, and the best people to go there with.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Honestly, I have no idea. I am the type of person that loves change! Ideally, I'd just love to continue to grow in the industry I'm in- hopefully end up somewhere overseas working for a bit. But it's all very unpredictable. I'm just letting the universe lead me wherever I am supposed to be 😊
What’s your everyday go to outfit?
Jeans and a crop top- it’s the easiest outfit to put together and works for most plans!
5 items you can’t live without? (Beauty or fashion)
- Mario Basescu Lip Balm- This is the BEST lip balm; I recommend this to everyone.
- A pair of sneakers - Whether that’s a pair of Jordans or New Balance's, you can't go wrong with a comfy shoe.
- The Briogio Charcoal + Tea Tree Treatment Serum - This fixed all my hair problems; I don’t go a week without it!
- Mac Whirl Lip Liner + Cherish Lipstick - It’s the best combo and it works for so many skin types. If you need a good mauve nude- this is it.
- A mini handbag- I have too many mini bags- they're useless but I love them all. My fav right now is the Coach Mini Heart bag.
Your favourite restaurant in Adelaide and Sydney?
I have so many favourites! I have a whole list for both cities. Golden Boy is a crowd fav for Adelaide or even Oseria Oggi for good pasta.
As for Sydney- I tried Tento recently, and it was amazing. It’s a must try!
Advice to your 18 year old self?
Don’t live by what other people tell you to do. Everyone always has an opinion, don't live with the weight of what other people think of you. Be whole heartily yourself. Make mistakes and own up to them. Be responsible for how you feel and how you make others feel. And take every opportunity and make the most of it.
