Dress for the life you WANT
You’ve all heard the saying - “Dress for the life you want, not the life you have”.
But what if you don’t know what that actually looks like for you?
I recently stumbled across a Tik Tok, about how a stylist uses a 3 word method.
The 3 word method is basically to help you get dressed every morning and find shopping for clothes a little easier.
First step:
Find your three words that describe your style.
I’m currently on my own journey on finding my style.
I started with dictating what my 3 words are currently, and then what I actually want my 3 words to be. ->
My current 3 words -
Simple / Easy
Casual
Comfortable
What I actually want my 3 words to be -
Cool girl
Timeless/classic
Comfortable
Not going to lie it was a bit of a wake up call realising what my 3 words are currently.
But that is changing from this moment forward.
*Creating a Pinterest board on clothes you are drawn to might help with choosing your 3 words*
Second step:
Go through your whole wardrobe.
Take everything out of your wardrobe (shoes, socks, undies and bras too). Create 4 different piles.
To keep
To sell
To donate
To chuck
*If you haven’t worn an item in over a year, it’s time to part ways with it*
Selling your pre-loved clothes is so easy these days.
There is depop, market place (Facebook), preloved rack places etc.
With this money you earn from sales, you can then (if you wish) purchase a couple of (needed) items to go towards your wardrobe, that fit within your 3 words.
I recently did a preloved rack with my bestie, Eloisia. I made about $445 from it which was amazing.
Third step:
Put your keep items back in your wardrobe, and sell, donate and/or chuck the rest.
Fourth step:
Going forward when purchasing new items, always keep in mind if the items encompass your 3 words.
Dressing for the life you want can be a bit uncomfortable and overwhelming. However, I hope the above helps in some way, making it a little easier.
For me, wearing a cool and comfortable outfit makes me feel I am on top of the world.
I feel more confident, and I feel more myself.
I wish the same for you as well.
Lots of love,
Rachelle xx
